The MSc Clinical Skin Integrity and Wound Management offers students a range of wound and skin integrity related modules that appeal to healthcare professionals who want to develop a deeper understanding of chronic wound healing and conditions affecting skin integrity. This programme combines the closely related specialties of wound management and dermatology and is unique.
The programme allows flexibility to study related specialist content to broaden student’s clinical expertise which is invaluable in today’s competitive workplace and brings a richness to the overall programme from an inter-professional and intra-professional perspective.
This programme aims to:
- Develop methods of inquiry and skills required to research and advance skin integrity and wound care practice using an in-depth current and relevant evidence base.
- Provide knowledge and understanding to foster the further development of critical, contemporary, evidence based and patient-centred practice in skin integrity and wound care.
- Develop a systematic advanced knowledge and understanding of the application of specialist skin integrity practice in the context of multi-professional and inter-professional working in the contemporary healthcare setting.
Assessment:
Practical skills are assessed through summative in-course assessments in the form of OSCE, written assignments, project plans, clinical audit, and presentations, clinical portfolios, and log diaries.

The price quoted above is for a 30 credit module in the 2025/26 academic year and applies to students who are assessed as Home fee payers ONLY. Fees will differ for students assessed as Overseas fee payers. Fee assessment decisions follow UKCISA (UK Council for International Student Affairs) guidance, which is based on UK law and government regulations. Prerequisites
The normal entry requirements for the programme are:
A degree in a healthcare discipline (or equivalent) and be registered with a professional and statutory body.
and
The equivalent of 2 years Full Time post qualifying experience including a minimum of 6 months Full Time (or equivalent) in a substantive speciality post in skin integrity or wound management (primary or secondary care).
and
Current clinical experience in a clinical setting with access to patients with chronic wounds / compromised skin integrity.
