This innovative module enables clinicians to consolidate and develop specialist skills in professional, contemporary wound management and dermatology practice. It will enable students to analyse concepts of advanced practice in relation to their own clinical setting. This module will be taught at the Society of Tissue Viability Annual Conference in April 2025, supplemented by blended online learning activities.
This is a good opportunity to network with a multidisciplinary range of wound care clinicians from different practice settings and update knowledge of the latest wound treatments in a comprehensive trade exhibition.
Who Should Attend?
This optional modules is offered on the MSc Skin Integrity and Wound Management programme. It will be of interest to GPs, FY1-2, Specialist Nurses, Advanced Care Practitioners, Pharmacists, Podiatrists and clinical advisors in industry with an interest in wound care and skin conditions.
Content:
Students will study a selection of topics such as:
- Burden of chronic wounds
- National/International guidelines, pathways & targets.
- Evidence based practice to support clinical decision making.
- Patient centred management, documentation & outcome monitoring.
- Barriers to healing, clinical, organization, educational, professional.
- Advances in therapeutic interventions and technologies.
- International models of service delivery/ development: resource management, quality improvement
- Team working, professional hierarchies, specialist practice.
