Course overview

This distance learning module is designed to enable practitioners to advance their knowledge and understanding of contemporary radiotherapy practice and other adjuvant management options available for a range of cancers. Using a case-based approach, advances in the oncological management of patients with cancer will be explored and the place of radiotherapy as a treatment modality will be evaluated. Students will be able to reflect on this with regard to their own professional practice.

Topics will typically include:
Contemporary radiotherapy techniques.
The use of radiotherapy in an adjuvant setting and as part of the overall management plan for a patient.
Advances in alternative treatment options utilised in oncological management.
Holistic approach to patient care.
Social, political, and economic issues related to oncological management options.

The exact content will be dictated by the most recently available peer reviewed research and literature reflecting current and developing technologies and management options.
